FRANCESCO CIPOLLETTA

Francesco Cipolletta lives in Turin, where he began his piano studies at the age of seven with the distinguished Italian teacher Maria Golia. He graduated cum laude from the “G. Verdi” Conservatory of his city, later refining his technique with Lev Nikolaevich Naumov and Maria Tipo at the renowned Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.

From a very young age, he distinguished himself in national competitions, winning 20 First Prizes in cities including Milan, Treviso, Florence, Taranto, La Spezia, Catanzaro, Stresa, Como, and Albenga. He was also a laureate in prestigious international competitions such as the “Busoni” in Bolzano, “Dino Ciani” in Milan, Pretoria (South Africa), “Viotti” in Vercelli, “Rina Sala Gallo” in Monza, and the European Piano Competition in Luxembourg. These successes launched an intense concert career that has taken him to major Italian cities (including Turin, Milan, Rome, Bologna, Verona, Venice, Genoa, Florence, Bari, Brescia, Como, and Bergamo) and across the globe (Brussels, London, Munich, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Karlsruhe, Vienna, Strasbourg, Paris, Luxembourg, Copenhagen, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima, Sendai, Hong Kong, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Cleveland, Norfolk, and many others).

He has performed in many prestigious venues, among them Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the RAI Auditoriums in Turin and Rome, Sala Verdi in Milan, La Fenice and Goldoni in Venice, Salle Gaveau in Paris, the Monnaie and Royal Theatres in Brussels, the Konzerthäuser of Stuttgart and Karlsruhe, the Gasteig in Munich, the Purcell Room in London, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Izumi Hall in Osaka, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and the Municipal Theatres of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. He has been invited by major musical societies and consistently receives high praise from both critics and audiences.

As a soloist, he has performed with leading orchestras, including the Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala (Milan), the RAI TV Orchestra of Milan, the National Symphony Orchestra of RAI–Turin, the Symphony Orchestras of Treviso and Sanremo, RTL Luxembourg Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National de Lorraine (France), the National Symphony Orchestras of Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, and Bloemfontein, the Virginia Symphony Orchestra (USA), the Symphony Orchestra of Córdoba (Argentina), the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (Brazil), and the Malta Symphony Orchestra.

His audio and video recordings have been broadcast by RAI, BBC, Swiss Radio Television, RTL Luxembourg, and SABC South Africa. He records for RealSound (RS), ARTS, and Brilliant Classics.

Maestro Cipolletta is frequently invited to give masterclasses at the University of Pretoria (South Africa), the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and serves on the jury of both national and international piano competitions, including the PTNA Competition in Tokyo. He is Full Professor of Piano at the State Conservatory of Music of Cuneo (Italy).
