About Competition

The 2nd Four Notes International Piano Competition - online edition is organized by Four Notes Music Training Center from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and artistic director Professor Uros Todic with the idea to establish a platform that will connect the pianists from all over the world, give the opportunity to perform and share their love and passion for music and win an attractive prizes and opportunities. This year the 2nd FNIPC2022 will have a special theme inspired by global warming and climate changes. Regarding that, all interested participants can join the special category where they will have to perform all or one movement of the music piece “Prayers for our feverish planet”, composed by Brian Field and get the chance to win a special “Environmental Awareness Prize”. Together we can share a message and raise awareness.

 
Rules and Categories

The 2nd Four Notes International Piano Competition will be held ONLINE on the Official Instagram/Facebook/YouTube and website page of the Four Notes Music Training Center with pre-recorded videos sent in advance by the participants. All videos will be organized per category and will be live streamed per competition schedule. 

An international and highly qualified jury will watch and evaluate these pre-recorded videos. 

 

The Four Notes International Piano Competition is open to competitors of all nationalities from all over the world. The competition will take place in one phase and is held entirely online.  Participants will compete in two disciplines, Piano Solo & Piano Duo, in different categories, depending on their age. 

 

The results of the competition will be published on the competition website page, as well as on social media, ( Facebook and Instagram).

VIDEO COMPETITION RULES

Submitted videos must be recorded no later than 12 months before the candidate’s registration date. The recordings must be unedited. The video must always show the performer’s face and hands and must be recorded in its entirety. Video length must not exceed the limit specified in the category requirements. 

Recording can take place at home or in the studio. Grand and upright pianos are recommended. Electric pianos with 88 weighted keys are accepted.  Small size digital pianos or with less than 88 keys are not accepted for the recording.

 

Uploading to YouTube can be done using video’s “public” setting or the “unlisted” setting. It takes a special car that your recording is not set to the “private” option in order to be accessed. 

 

Please follow the instructions and title your video as follows: Name and last name (country); In the Description field, indicate the name of the competition (FOUR NOTES INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION 2022) the age category, as well as the authors and full names of the performed compositions in that order.

The appropriate category must be selected according to age at the time of application deadline,

25th of Jun 2022. 

APPLICATION DETAILS

The participant is obliged to do online registration and payment. Prepare for the online registration following the below steps:

  1. Upload the video to YouTube prior to registration and save the link

  2. Prepare the document that confirms the year of birth,(passport/ ID)

  3. Prepare one artistic headshot photo of the participant.

  4. Complete online application form and attached all necessary documents.

  5. Complete online payment of the competition registration fees. 

 

After the registration you will receive the confirmation email.

PIANO SOLO

 

  • Baby category, 2015 and younger - 6 min (free program)

  • Pre Category, 2013 and younger - 6 min (free program)

  • I Category, 2011 and younger - 10 min (free program)

  • II Category, 2009 and younger - 12 min (free program)

  • III Category, 2007 and younger - 15 min (free program)

  • IV Category, 2005 and younger - 18 min (free program)

  • V Category, 2003 and younger - 20 min (free program)

  • VI Category, 2001 and younger - 30 min (free program)

  • VII Category professionals free category up to 35 years of age - 45min (free program)

  • Environmental Awareness Category, no age or time limit. To be eligible for participation in this category participants must perform "Three Prayers for a Feverish Planet" by Brian Field as a whole piece or one of the movements by their choice. Participants can register just for Environmental Awareness Category, or if they are already participating in another category and they decide to perform this piece or one of the movements they will be automatically nominated for this category.

PIANO DUO

 

  • Baby category, 2015 and younger - 6 min (free program)

  • Pre Category, 2013 and younger - 6 min (free program)

  • I Category, 2011 and younger - 10 min (free program)

  • II Category, 2009 and younger - 12 min (free program)

  • III Category, 2007 and younger - 15 min (free program)

  • IV Category, 2005 and younger - 18 min (free program)

  • V Category, 2003 and younger - 20 min (free program)

  • VI Category 2001 and younger - 30min (free program)

  • VII Category professionals free category up to 35 years of age - 40min (free program)

 

​NOTE : The date of birth of the older candidate determines what category the duo performs in.

The repertoire in the Piano Solo discipline must be performed by memory. In Piano Duo, it can be performed by memory or with scores. All pieces must be published, unpublished pieces will not be accepted. 

Performance of own compositions will not be accepted.

Decision of the Jury is final and cannot be changed. 

Contestants cannot be current students to any members of the jury, in that case the Jury member will be temporarily replaced.

 

Registration

Prizes and Awards

Competitors will be ranked according to the average points of evaluations by the Jury.

In addition to other prizes, a total amount of EUR 3000 will be distributed among winners as cash prizes in each category.

Environmental Awareness Prize : ​Total amount of EUR 2000, videos of performances will be promoted and posted on www.prayersforourfeverishplanet.org website and each participant will get his/her profile. 

Winners in each category will be decided according to the number of points earned:

 

  • FIRST PRIZE : from 90 to 100 points

  • SECONDE PRIZE  : from 80 to 89.99 points

  • THIRD PRIZE : from 70 to 79.99 points

  • DIPLOMA : from 60 to 69.99 points

  • “Laureate of the Category” prize will be given to the one winner of each category. 

  • All students will receive the participation certificate.

  • All teachers will receive the certificates.

  • Teacher who has the most awarded students will be invited as a part of a Jury panel of the next year competition.
